PROGRAMME:
We warmly thank the National Theatre of Northern Greece for the kind concession of the theatrical costumes to Voci Contra TempoTempo.
The work is based on the historical tradition of the Requiem species, using precisely the traditional Latin verses, but with small upheavals and musical expressive means, it attempts to deal anthropocentically with anxiety, fear, sadness, rage, humiliation, the hopeless desire for knowledge and the other emotions that accompany the inevitable truth of the coming death. A central role is played by the child’s voice, which represents the pure and unprotected childlike soul that is endemic hidden in every person and who is ultimately confronted with the unanswered question of existence. Compositionally, I tried to treat with respect the history of the genre of Requiem, starting from the Middle Ages but also to use a musical language familiar and understandable for the modern listener.

Founded as a non-profit organisation, Voci Contra Tempo is a vocal ensemble based in Thessaloniki, Greece, promoting and presenting choral repertoire to the public. We function as a project choir and our members are classically trained singers who are passionate about choral music. We have performed in various venues in Greece and last summer we made our international debut in some of the most prestigious choral festivals in Europe: the “Guido d’Arezzo International Choral Festival” and the “Incontro Internazionale Polifonico ‘Città di Fano’”
